Development of the new mobile OS/Platform based upon open source OS.

Our group has several different areas of focus that all combined help us create a true ecosystem around web centric technologies. The team will work on all these initiatives, which are

- webOS
- Enyo Framework
- Cross-platform Initiative

On WebOS, we have a very well defined set of deliverables for next year, first a product for a specific customer engagement and second the delivery of a true turn-key platform to extend our reach to other devices. This will likely make over 90% of the team work for the next 12 months. The team will need to contribute changes at all the layers of webOS, i.e. WebKit, Qt, system services, javascript framework, multimedia and applications. Our application layer leverages QML and Javascript frameworks. A large part of the work will also involves graphics and performance work. The team will have access to development hardware that will be provided in January. The initial product represents a real opportunity for the organization to make webOS a significant player in the said space. The initial set of projects that we have been talking about are falling into this first category.


At last, we will involve the team in application and framework development to create a set of core applications to make our ecosystem richer.

3+ yrs of experience in appropriate role
Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or adjacent technology areas / appropriate working experience

Linux user-space
Qt UI development and intergration
C/C++, optional shell
Javascript/HTML4/HTML5/CSS
Web/browser development
Understanding HTML/CSS rendering principles
WebKit/WebKit2 a plus

Optional but important skills:
Development for mobile platforms, preferably Linux/*nix based:
• webOS
• android
• BlackBerry 10
• iOS
Operating Systems design and development
Web programming skills
Agile development (Scrum) experience
Development of platform-specific abstraction layers
Participation in open source projects
Development for embedded OS
GUI Development for handheld devices
Good attitude to sustaining development experience

Problem tracking, preference JIRA
Communication in English (oral and written)
